Even though you may have just put away your Christmas decorations, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. The dining options in Bergen + Essex Counties are competitive with those in Manhattan and Brooklyn; good restaurants book up quickly in our area. If you are at a loss on where to take your loved one this Valentine’s Day, we have a few romantic suggestions that will be sure to make his or her evening special (and make you a hero, too!)
Considered one of the most romantic restaurants in Bergen County, Esty Street’s acclaimed chef has crafted a fantastic three-course menu, ($100 per person), that will be hard to say “no” to. There are plenty of choices for each course; my heart is pining to start with the Duck Confit Ravioli, devour the Butter Poached Lobster with shrimp and bay scallops for my entrée and savor the Chocolatte Truffle Torte for dessert. Esty Street is the perfect spot to bring up an important question (hint hint)!
One of our all-time favorites, Chef Robbie Felice will be sure to dazzle your loved one with their special $69 four-course menu, featuring mouth-watering dishes such as Barnegat Bay Scallops with pistachio, winter citrus, Italian radicchio and smoked potato and Veal Polpette “Al Forno” with lemon ricotta, pomodoro and Parmigiano Reggiano. Dive head first into dessert with mascarpone cheesecake or vanilla butter cake with champagne.
One of our personal favorites (and nearby neighbor), Turtle + The Wolf has taken dining out in Montclair to the next level. Chef Lauren Hirschberg boasts a background as the Culinary Director for famed restauranteur, Tom Colicchio, and boy, does she wow us nightly! Their jaw-dropping entrees include Duck Pot Pie (decadent to say the least) and vegan entrée Fairytale Eggplant with “Fried Rice”. No themed or specially priced menu to be found for 2/14, but scoring a table at this farm-to-table hotspot will be sure to make your honey howl.
Noce 77 offers a special three-course, $55 menu not just on the 14th but the 15th as well in case you REALLY want to impress your date (or best friend) with two nights of indulgence! What’s more, they include a complimentary glass of champagne for the two of you to get the party started, RIGHT.
A long-time favorite of Ridgewood denizens, Village Green has an ever-changing menu that reflects seasonal specialties. True to form, Chef Kevin Portscher will feature a price-fixe Valentines Day tasting menu for $75. The menu will not be determined until the Chef receives a list of the best of the best from their local farms and suppliers. Given the quality of the usual dishes at Village Green, this will be a menu to fall in love over!
Hot off the press! Laurel & Sage, one of Montclair’s top restaurants, is offering an enticing Valentine’s Day four-course menu for $70 per person. What’s not to adore about this warm and inviting dining mecca when they are offering enticing options including wild mushroom risotto with black truffle butter and pine nuts and pomegranate molasses braised short ribs. My heart is not only aflutter over Chef Shawn’s dark chocolate pignoli tart dessert but that they offer a variety of gluten-free options as well!
