Every year around this time there is a scramble to find the best books for beach reading. There is nothing worse than plopping down your chair, putting on your lotion, opening up your book and HATING it. Have no fear! We have done the dirty work and come up with some great books that you won’t be able to put down.
Written by the same author as The Woman in Cabin 10 (another great read!), this book will keep you flipping through the pages until the VERY end. The friendship between four childhood friends will draw you in and keep you hooked trying to figure out WHAT exactly is going on. There is sex, incest, murder, love and undying loyalty. This book might just keep you at the beach until the tides roll in.
This book is not new but if you have not read it you MUST this summer. Advance warning: it is a little confusing in the beginning but keep moving forward and you will not be disappointed. It is a story of a curmudgeon old man and what happens when a young family moves in next door. Leaving you with a mixture of emotions, there is a “feel-good” message that will leave you thrilled you added this one to your bookshelf this summer.
Did you love The Devil Wear’s Prada? Then you are going to devour this spin-off taking the fabulous Emily Charlton from the glamour of New York City to the manicured lawns and women of Greenwich, Connecticut. And Emily is NOT taking the suburbs lying down. Sound familiar? Get ready to feel inspired of how you can change the suburbs with a little city-charm and a lot of character.
This one is sitting on our nightstand waiting for the perfect sunny day. NY Times Best Selling author of All the Missing Girls has drawn us again into this story of a journalist who is searching for her missing friend, but did she exist at all? SAY WHAT? This book has “page turner” written all over it.
If you live in or around our Ridgewood COREFIRE location, then you have to get this book! It is the towns pick for the “One Village, One Book” initiative (and an Oprah’s Book Club book). This novel is both inspiring and heartbreaking – the story of a young Camaroon family as they try to make their way in NYC. The patriarch lands a job as a chauffeur for a big wig at Lehman Brothers while his wife helps at the exec’s summer home. Then Lehman collapses and the dominos fall. Keep the tissues close to your sunscreen.
We can’t wait to hear what you think about our picks for the summer. Comment below with any other suggestions!
