We love to workout at Corefire but we also believe that you need balance in your life. Why not treat ourselves! This Sunday is a national holiday: National Ice Cream Day. In the name of patriotism, here are our top picks in Ridgewood and Montclair for National Ice Cream Day!
305 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood
The newest scooper on the scene, Ridgewood’s Ice Cream by Mike is taking the Village by storm. When they say, “Heaven is just a spoonful away”, they are not kidding. There is always a line for their homemade delicacies including toasted amaretto brittle and chocolate raspberry. On July 15th, Ice Cream by Mike is offering for every cone or cup you purchase, the second is 1/2 price.
145 Ackerman Avenue, Ridgewood
For over 60 years, Van Dyk’s has been serving colossal servings to Ridgewood denizens at this exceptional ice cream shop. This ice cream only parlor is always packed when it opens for the season. FYI, they only accept cash and the only dining area is their parking lot. Let’s face it, who even makes it to the car when grabbing a cone from Van Dyk’s!
616 Grove Street, Montclair
A list of ice cream bests in Northern Jersey would not be complete without Applegate Farm. Serving homemade frozen treats from a farm stand since the 1840s, this is a local favorite! If the ice cream wasn’t enough, over the summer they host weekly events that feature a live DJ, magic shows or even family friendly movies. A great way to get your licks in and enjoy some quality family time. Don’t forget to ask about “The Farm.”
FUN FACT: Co-Owner’s Cait & Ange would frequent Applegate’s as Cait grew up across the street on Windermere!
410 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair
Insta-obsessed ice cream lovers don’t have to trek to NYC to get their fix. Look no further than Montclair’s Absolute Zero for the hottest Thai-inspired sensation, ice cream rolls. With innovative, homemade flavors such as “Let that Man-Go” and “Camp and Chill” you’ll be pleasantly satisfied!
1063 Broad Street, Bloomfield (near Brookdale Park)
Last but certainly not least, we give you Holsten’s. This home made ice cream (and burgers, fries & grilled cheese) parlor has been in business for 75 years. We highly recommend sitting at the counter for a scoop of their coffee chip in a cone with rainbow sprinkles!
See you at the counter!
